KIA Golden Circle Challenge

The KIA Golden Circle Challenge 2023 will be held in Selfoss 1. – 2. July.

Held each Summer since 2012 the cycling competition welcomes riders of every skill level. Electric bikes especially welcomed for the no chip time courses and families are encouraged to enjoy the rides together. For the more challenging courses there are strict time limits and a competition experience pre-requisite. The objective is to offer fun and competitive races where everyone can enjoy themselves. Reserve your spot now on either 12 km, 43 km or 59 km challenge.

Courses for the whole family

Routes and Maps

All rides start in the brand new towncenter of Selfoss. There are rides for both experienced riders and newcomers. A social ride will also be offered where all family members can ride together enjoying the surroundings of Selfoss. Electric bikes are welcomed in the social ride category. Other categories are more competitive and the longest ride is designed for riders with experience from taking part in cycling competitions.

Please note that roughly 5 km are ridden on a gravel road and can be tough on both rider and bike.

Name change and refunds?

You can change the name on your registration information while the online registration is open. Transferring your registration details and competition fees until the next competition is not possible.

Registration fees for The KIA Golden Circle Challenge are non-refundable. If for any reason the event does not go ahead, due to any unforeseen circumstances, natural disasters, government restrictions (public health/safety related) weather etc, registration fees can not be refunded.
What about the Viking squad? How does one become an Iron-Viking and Iceland-Viking?

VIKING SQUAD
By participating in any of the races of any Viking Tournament event this year, you will be eligible to become part of the Viking Squad.

ICELAND-VIKING
If you want to become an Iceland-Viking, you have to finish the 59km route in KIA Golden Circle Challenge, 28km course in NOW Eldslóðin Fire Trail, 26km course in Salomon Hengill Ultra Trail and then the 23km chip time category in Landsnet MTB. Participants can choose longer races in each event but must meet the minimum distances specified in order to obtain the moniker Iceland-Viking.

IRON-VIKING
To join the coveted Iron-Viking moniker, you must finish the 59km route in KIA Golden Circle Challenge, 28km course in NOW Fire Trail, 56km course in Salomon Hengill Ultra Trail and the 23km chip time category in Landsnet MTB.
How to get there?

The starting point of the routes on the main race day is downtown Selfoss, across the street from Hotel Selfoss.
