Sold Out Except for 5K
Long Courses Sold Out at Garmin Eldslóðin – Limited Spots Left in the 5K
Garmin Eldslóðin, one of Iceland’s most popular trail races, goes down this Saturday, September 13, in the stunning landscapes of Vífilsstaðir and Heiðmörk. The race has become a true end-of-summer classic on the Icelandic trail running calendar.
This year’s turnout is huge: both the 29K and 10K distances are sold out. The only option still open is the brand-new 5K course, introduced this season.
“We’re seeing the appetite for trail running grow every single year, and we want to offer something for all types of runners. The new 5K is a perfect entry point for those taking their first strides on the trails—or anyone who just wants to soak up the atmosphere,” says race director Einar Bárðarson.
Runners will take on unique trails just minutes from the city, with a lively vibe at both the start and finish lines. Every finisher earns a medal, and podium prizes will be awarded in each category. Post-race, athletes, families, and friends are invited to stick around for a food-truck feast.
Garmin Eldslóðin is also an ITRA-certified event, meaning finishers score points toward their international trail running profile—adding even more weight to this local favorite on the global stage.
