Hengill Ultra – Terms And Conditions

Terms and conditions that participants need to read and sign before receiving race-package

By signing reading and signing the document I confirm the following:

I am in a sufficient physical and mental condition to participate and finish Hengill Ultra 53K within 12 hours and Hengill Ultra 106K within 22 hours.

Participants in Hengill Ultra 106K need to finish the first loop within 10 hours and second loop within 12 hours. Time limit is 22 hours.

I fully realise the difficulty level of the trails that run through the highlands of Iceland where the weather can be unpredictable and bad.

I have acknowledged the time limits of the races before that start of the race. I acknowledge that everyone that do not finish the loops within the time limit will be pulled out of the race, no exceptions.

I understand that it is not the job of the staff and management of Hengill Ultra to help participants who are not properly prepared in respect to training, nutrition or running gear. The safety of each runner is their own responsibility and they have to have the skills to deal with unexpected circumstances during the race.

I have read and understood the rules of Hengill Ultra Trail and I agree to them.

I agree to go by the instructions that the Hengill Ultra Trail staff give and will take on board any advice that they give in relation to my safety and other participants.

As a participant in Hengill Ultra Trail, I hereby waive any rights to compensations of any kind from the owners of the Hengill Ultra Trail competition, the staff and any sponsor or partner with the competition because of any kind of injury, sickness, accidents or any other unforeseen incidents that I may experience during and around my participation in Hengill Ultra Trail competition.

Bylaws

Participants that do not adhere to the rules of Hengill Ultra Trail, could face expulsion from the event.

Participants who do not follow the guidance and instructions laid out by the staff of Hengill Ultra Trail will be held responsible for any and all costs associated with searching for and/or caring for by the rescue team, staff or other related parties.

Rights of the event organisers

The organisers are not responsible for any external influence on participants. That encompasses weather, natural distaster, other runners/hikers/walkers/people, vehicles or other external factors that could influence participants.

The organisers can disqualify and stop a participant that does not wear appropriate clothing or has the necessary equipment to take part in Hengill Ultra Trail.

The organisers can disqualify any participant that creates a danger for himself or other participants by not adhering to the rules set out by the competition.

The organisers are not responsible for any participant’s illness or accidents at any time leading up to, during and after the competition or during transportation to the competition site, during the event itself or after. Participants are encouraged to seek out help from the staff if an accident or an illness occurs.

Participants are always responsible for themselves, even if they seek out help from the competition staff.

The organisers reserve the right to cancel the competition with short notice due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances (any government restrictions included) that can create any danger to the safety of the participants.

Appeals and Charges

Participants who believe they have suffered an infraction can appeal to the competition owners.

The appeal needs to be submitted in writing to the competition management during the race period.

An appeal regarding the overall results in men’s and women’s brackets, needs to reach the competition management, at the latest, before or on 8pm (20:00 evening local time) the day after the race.
